Yes, Arrow Are Back To Their Old Tricks Again!

Oh Dear!

Just when I thought they'd stopped, they start their stupid antics all over again! When are Arrow ever going to learn?! Seriously, how many years, how many blog-posts by me, and how many other complaints does it take, before the idiots that run Arrow are going to get the message that you can't keep pissing-off the very people who keep you in business?!

Arrow released an expensive, hardback book on Monday 11th April, entitled CULT CINEMA: AN ARROW VIDEO COMPANION, and it looks like this...

I pre-ordered this book on Amazon UK, for a little under £35. It's over 240 pages, and is a large-format hardback. It finally arrived this week, and was being sold as...
This hardback volume brings together 25 of the world's leading genre experts and critics to guide you through the multi-faceted beast that is cult cinema. Exploring the stars, the filmmakers and the trends, Cult Cinema: An Arrow Video Companion provides an intriguing trip down the less well-trodden paths of filmdom. Featuring new writings of: Robin Bougie, Michael Brooke, Paul Corupe, David Del Valle, David Flint, Kevin Gilvear, Joel Harley, David Hayles, Pasquale Iannone, Alan Jones, Tim Lucas, Michael Mackenzie, Maitland McDonagh, Tom Mes, John Kenneth Muir, Kim Newman, James Oliver, Vic Pratt, Jasper Sharp, Cullen Gallagher, Kenneth J. Souza, Mike Sutton, Stephen Thrower, Caelum Vatnsdal, Doug Weir. With an introduction by filmmaker Ben Wheatley.
Note the keyword in that paragraph - "new! What Arrow didn't tell you, and what you won't find-out until you buy the bloody thing, which is shrink-wrapped, is that all but nine of the 30 articles are word-for-word reprints of their brochures and booklets from many of their DVD and Blu-Ray releases, they've made over the past few years!

Yes, out of 240-odd pages, less than 1/10th of it, is genuinely new material! The rest, is old, reprinted material you already own, and have paid for! What's worse, is that the full-colour images that permeate through the book, are split in half, with white columns running through the middle of them, like window-frames! Arrow say this a "design choice", but it looks more like a way to con the public, by spreading-out small images across one or more pages, to make the book thicker.

On top of this, the text is in gigantic type, with huge white borders, around 16pt in size. Why on earth would you do this, other than to up the page-count, and be able to charge more for it? See this photo below, to see what I mean.

Seriously, Arrow, what the fuck are you playing at?! Did you really think that your fans would be happy shelling out £35, and receiving nothing more than a good-looking, but completely fabricated reprint of stuff they already own? The fact the book now goes for about £65 on Amazon, shows you just what kind of charlatans run this company! Almost doubling-the-price since Monday when this came out, is a fucking sick joke of gargantuan proportions!

If you click on this  link  here, you will see many justifiably negative reviews and comments! I hope that people will follow me, and return their books back to Amazon, get a full-refund, and then Arrow will hopefully lose a lot of money on this project, with all the unsold "limited-edition" copies that no one is willing to waste their money on! Maybe then, Arrow will finally learn a hard lesson? I doubt it, but I can but hope!

Oh, and just to add even further insult to injury, this book is claimed to be a "limited-edition", but no one has said exactly how "limited" this book is. Going from all the negative comments on Amazon, and even on their own Facebook page - as shown at this  link  here, Arrow are going to have an awfully large amount of copies left, that they will have to shift, at less than £10 each. And at that price, they're going to be loosing thousands of pounds in profit, and deservedly so!

One day, they will learn not to keep fucking people off! Maybe this time, they will finally get the message through their thick heads?!
